Undercover in India’s garment industry…

We have teamed up with the wonderful Dear Clare human rights photography project by photojournalist Claudia Janke to show you a photo essay about the exploitation of India’s garment workforce.  Going undercover with a camera into Delhi’s garment sweatshop underbelly, harsh realities were thrown into perspective…

From the photo project comes this extract:

“It’s not only about child labour:  it’s about the exploitation of garment workers in general; the lack of rights, rough conditions, poor payment… It’s about the pressure the brands and retailers put on suppliers to work even faster and cheaper, no matter the cost (the human cost that is).  We know it all.  But where is the outcry, the action? What happened to consumer power?”
